His complementary skill of carving and gilding affords him a rare ability to see a piece through to its completion.
The focus of his art is from the 1st Century to the 9th Century in Ireland. The inspiration for his work is Irish customs, and folklore, long forgotten by many which were carried on in the oral tradition.
“To know yourself you must know your past. Our past culture is very relevant to us today” Patrick Coffey.
Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa
100th Anniversary Commemoration of his Life & Death
June 29, 2015, Monday
Mass, Wreath Laying & Reception on Staten Island
Many Irish and Irish American organizations [LAOH, AOH, Irish Arts Center, Cork Assn, Irish Consulate, Ireland’s Minister] are working together to see that the historic events and people leading up to the
100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising are not forgotten. The Irish patriot, Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa lived his life for the cause of Ireland’s Freedom; after being banished from his own country he lived the rest of his life in the United States but he never stopped fighting for Ireland’s freedom.
Let us all come together as the sons and daughters of Ireland to remember him.
